Irish Quantum Field Theory Meeting 2003
Introduction The
10th IQFT Meeting will take place on 16-17th May, 2003 at
the National University of Ireland, Galway.
The meeting takes place in room AM150 in the Arts Millenium Building off
Newcastle Road shown on this map.
Speakers
The invited plenary speakers are:
- David
Gross (Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics, UC Santa
Barbara)
- Michael
Douglas (Rutgers)
- Geoffrey Mason (UC Santa Cruz)
There will also be a number of
talks by speakers mainly based at Irish Institutions.
The annual
Groups in
Galway meeting is taking place at the same time. The seminar by Geoffrey
Mason entitled "Mirror Pairs of Finite Groups" will be a joint talk addressing both conferences.
Registration Fee The
registration fee is €20.
Conference dinner A
conference dinner will take place on Friday 16th May, 7.00 at a cost
of €35 per person. Please contact Michael.Tuite@nuigalway.ie
by Monday 12 May to book.
There will be no subsidy towards the cost of dinner available
for postgraduate students.
An historical talk will follow
the dinner given by David
Gross on the Discovery of Asymptotic Freedom.
Travel
Arrangements
The meeting takes place in room AM150 in the Arts Millenium Building off
Newcastle Road shown on this map.
- From
Dublin by train. The last train on
Thursday 15th May departs Heuston station, Dublin at 19.05 and
arrives in Galway at 22.05. The first train on Friday 16th May
departs Heuston station, Dublin at 07.20 and arrives in Galway at 10.13. A
conference minibus will meet the Friday morning train and bring delegates to
the University.
- From
Dublin by bus. A regular Bus Eireann service leaves Busaras Dublin every
hour on the hour from 08.00 until 20.00 taking around 3 hours 30 mins. For
further details see http://www.buseireann.ie/site/home.
Two private bus companies, Citylink
and Nestors,
also run a regular and cheaper service. These companies also run services
directly between Galway city and Dublin airport.
- From Dublin by air. Aer
Arann runs regular flights from Dublin to Galway. The last flight on
Thursday May 15th leaves at 22.15 and arrives at 23.00. The first
flight on Friday May 16th leaves at 7.35 and arrives at 8.20.
- By
car from Dublin/Cork/Limerick. Plans of the campus and parking arrangements
are available on this map.
Directions: We recommend
approaching the university via the Western ring road. Follow signposts for
Clifden/Salthill until you cross the river Corrib via the quincentenary
bridge. Turn left at traffic lights (at a Statoil service station) on to
Newcastle Road. Turn left at next
traffic lights into Distillery Road leading to the car parks shown in the map.
- From
Europe/UK/USA. Direct flights to Shannon airport are available which is
located about 90 minutes away. Direct flights to Knock Airport are also
available from London Stansted with Ryanair
and to Galway from London Luton with Aer
Arann.
